Kováts Richárdnak hívnak. A harcművészeti, illetve küzdősport tanulmányaimat 1992-ben kezdtem. Kezdetben a Judo-t gyakoroltam.
My name is Richard Kovats. I began my martial arts and combat sports studies in 1992. At first, I practiced Judo for a few years. After that, I started to learn and study Ninjutsu (Bujinkan Budo Taijutsu) in Budapest training sessions and foreign seminars.
I was lucky enough to learn from several excellent instructors and masters during the years, all of whom I am very grateful to. But the most important master in my life was Anthony Lucas, from whom I still learn to this day. The real learning and development for me on the path of martial arts began when he accepted me as his student.
Anthony moved to Budapest from New York for a few years and immediately made a great impression on me with his sophisticated movements, open mind and delightful personality. During the years spent together in parallel with practicing Ninjutsu I began to learn the Ryabko and Vasiliev style Systema.
In my opinion the traditional knowledge found in Ninjutsu and the principles and freedom of Systema complement each other very well, so I still study both and combine them in my training.
